November 13th, 2008 Jace goes for Surgery

I have never been so proud, watching Jace walk into the hospital. He couldn't wait to show Mama everything he had learned at his surgery class. What floor we needed to go to, what buttons to push to get onto the train elevator, how they were going to put a thing on his arm and pump it up and the wagon that they would take him to surgery in.

We got him some new P.J.'s for his surgery.

The nurses are all so good with kids, we are so lucky to have Primary Children's right here. People fly in from all over the country to bring their kids to this Hospital.

The P.J's that he changed into were a little big he had to hold them up to walk. (We got him some smaller ones)

While we waited for them to come and take him back Jace cooked us pancakes and diet cokes.

They gave him medicine that made him woozy before they wheeled him away from me.

This was the most awful part for me; Jace looked back at me the whole way down this long hallway.

This is right after they pulled the trachea-tube out of him, he cried but he was still not awake yet.

Jace cried, screamed, and throw a fit for almost an hour, as the anesthesia wore off; he was some boy I didn't recognize. They tried to hold him down to give him Codeine but he spit it out and it ran into his eyes.

Once the meds wore off he was back to my sweet little boy, they took the IV out and we headed home. The whole process took 5 hrs.

I can't believe how big his incision is, it is 5 inches long.

When we got home Chris had bought The Polar Express, so we cuddled up in front of the fire and watched the movie. By 6o'clock Jace had fallen asleep.

This is the next day and Jace is totally back to normal, you would never know that he has a huge incision on his butt. He doesn't want to relax he wants to go down the slide at McDonalds with Lexus.
